Temporary Work At Height Policy
INTRODUCTION
We recognise that staff who work at height may be vulnerable to falling. We understand that around half of all fatal injuries recorded within the construction industry over the past five years have been as a direct result of falling from a height. We recognise that particular care is required to provide safe systems of work for employees who are required to work above ground level, and that detailed and comprehensive risk assessments must be maintained in order to ensure that adequate precautions are taken.
It is our policy to:
- Undertake preliminary assessment of every job to determine the likely risks of working at height.
- Provide a safe system of work for staff.
- Undertake detailed specific risk assessment where conditions require unusual precautions.
- Implement appropriate controls as identified in the risk assessment to minimise risks of falling from a height.
- Provide appropriate information and training to all staff who may be required to work at height.
- Ensure that appropriate means of access to height are provided at all jobs.
